McFaddin House Complex

historic place

The McFaddin House Complex is a historic place in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas. This classical revival mansion was completed in 1906, designed by architect Henry Conrad Mauer. The house was initially built for Di Averill, daughter of William McFaddin, who received land from the Republic of Texas. Her brother, W. P. H. McFaddin, and his family moved into the home in 1907. The McFaddin family lived here for 75 years. The McFaddin House Complex received a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark designation in 1976. Before her death in 1982, Mamie McFaddin Ward ensured the house would become a museum, opening in 1986. This site offers insight into a prominent Southeast Texas family's life from the early 1900s through 1950.
