First National Bank Tower

historic place

The First National Bank Tower in Dallas, Texas, is a historic place. Construction started in 1961, with the fifty-two-story skyscraper completed in 1965. Architects George Dahl and Thomas E. Stanley designed the building. Its exterior features dark gray glass and white marble from Greece. When it opened, the First National Bank Tower was the tallest building west of the Mississippi River until 1969. It was also the tallest in Texas until 1971. In 2017, the tower was added to the National Register of Historic Places. After a significant renovation, the building reopened in 2020 as The National, now housing a hotel, apartments, and commercial spaces. This Dallas landmark represents a notable period in the city's architectural history.
