Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Building and B.F. Goodrich Building

historic place

In Dallas, Texas, stand the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Building and the B.F. Goodrich Building. Both structures were erected in 1929. The Goodyear Building, located at 3809 Parry Avenue, housed the Southwest Regional division office and warehouse for what was then the world's largest tire and rubber company. This three-story building was designed in a Chicago-influenced industrial/commercial style. The B.F. Goodrich Building, at 4136 Commerce Street, served as the Dallas division office for the fourth largest tire company globally. This two-story building features rusticated masonry and decorative brickwork. Both buildings were constructed on speculation by the Parks family and are connected by a one-story masonry ell. Goodyear occupied its building for thirty-three years, vacating by 1957. B.F. Goodrich left its space in 1946. These buildings reflect Dallas's emergence as a major regional center for trade and commerce, and the growing importance of the automobile industry in the early 20th century. They have since been converted into lofts, preserving their historical presence.
