Hilton Hotel, Dallas, Texas
historic place
The Hilton Hotel in Dallas, Texas, is a historic place located at the corner of Main and Harwood streets. Designed by the architectural firm of Lang and Witchell, this building opened on August 6, 1925. It was the first hotel built for Conrad Hilton to officially bear his name, and his first new-construction high-rise in Texas. The fourteen-story, U-plan brick-clad building features elaborate terra cotta details at its entries. The hotel advertised comfortable guest rooms and superior service. From 1938 to 1974, it operated as the White-Plaza Hotel. A historical marker for this site was erected in 1988. Today, the building functions as the Hotel Indigo. This site holds historical importance as the initial purpose-built hotel in Conrad Hilton's expanding hotel chain, marking a key point in his career.
