Interstate Forwarding Company Warehouse

historic place

The Interstate Forwarding Company Warehouse in Dallas, Texas, is a historic place. Built in 1913 as a fireproof warehouse, it was erected by businessmen B. D. Milam and E. C. Connor. Dallas became an official U.S. Port of Entry that same year, and this building served as the city's first bonded customs warehouse. The structure exhibits Chicago School-style influences, featuring reinforced concrete, brick infill, and metal casement window walls. A rear bay allowed for rail car entry. The Interstate Forwarding Company was its initial major tenant. A historical marker was erected in 1991. This warehouse reflects Dallas's early commercial and transportation growth.
