Levi--Topletz House
historic place
The Levi--Topletz House, located in Dallas, Texas, is a historic residence built around 1914. Architect H.A. Overbeck designed the house, which displays elements of both Italian Renaissance revival and Prairie School architectural styles. Jewish businessman Leo S. Levi commissioned its construction. The house is situated in the Edgewood Addition, a prestigious streetcar suburb developed in 1912 along what was then Forest Avenue, now Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard. This street was a principal streetcar route across the South Dallas neighborhood. In 1922, Solomon Topletz and his wife Rebecca purchased the house, living there from 1925 through the mid-1940s. The Levi--Topletz House is one of the few original residences from the Edgewood Addition that retains its architectural integrity. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 for its architectural significance.
