Maintenance Building (Hall of Administration)
historic place
The Maintenance Building, also known as the Hall of Administration, stands as a historic place in Dallas, Texas, situated within Fair Park. This structure was originally erected in 1910, with James Flanders serving as its architect. It first functioned as the State Fair Coliseum. For the momentous Centennial Exposition, this Spanish Romanesque style building underwent significant changes. It was renamed the Hall of Administration and remodeled, incorporating distinct Art Deco architectural elements. During the Exposition, the building housed the Centennial Corporation offices, playing a key administrative role. Today, this historic site, located to the northwest of the Parry Avenue Entrance Gates, is used for maintenance equipment and storage. Its journey from a coliseum to an administrative center, and now a maintenance facility, highlights the adaptable nature of Fair Park's historic structures and their enduring presence in Dallas's history.
