historic place

The McGaugh Hosiery Mills - Airmaid Mills Building in Dallas, Texas, is a historic location. McGaugh Hosiery Mills, founded in 1929 by Joe R. Brown, built this 6,000-square-foot facility at 4408 Second Avenue in 1946. This Dallas site served as the finishing plant and housed general and sales offices, employing about 125 people by 1951. The company's knitting operations were in New Braunfels. By 1953, the company became Airmaid Hosiery Mills and earned a "Blue Ribbon Winner" award for best style at the State Fair. The company later moved or split by 1965. This building reflects a segment of Dallas's mid-20th-century industrial history.
