The Levi--Moses House in Dallas, Texas
historic place
The Levi--Moses House, located in Dallas, Texas, was built around 1915. Architect H. A. Overbeck designed this two-and-a-half-story brick residence. The house incorporates elements of Italian Renaissance and Prairie School architectural styles. Charles G. Levi, an investment banker, commissioned the house and lived there with his family until his death in 1918. His wife, Virginia, and their son-in-law, Jacob Moses, continued to reside in the home. Jacob Moses was president of the Slaughter Mayfield Company, a tailoring and merchandising firm. The family sold the house around 1945. The Levi--Moses House is one of the original residences in the Edgewood Addition, a prestigious neighborhood for influential Jewish business and civic leaders in the early 20th century. It stands as a significant architectural landmark in South Dallas and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
