Trueheart, Henry M. and Annie V., House

historic place

In Fort Davis, Jeff Davis County, stands the Henry M. and Annie V. Trueheart House. This historic Queen Anne style residence was built around 1898. It served as a summer home for Henry M. and Annie Trueheart, who were Galveston residents. Henry M. Trueheart was a prominent real estate investor. The family sought the healthful climate of the Davis Mountains to escape coastal heat. Constructed with native stone, adobe, and milled wood, the house remained with the Trueheart family until 1920. It became a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1964. This house reflects Fort Davis's historical appeal as a summer destination.
