Dr. Arvel and Faye Ponton House
historic place
The Dr. Arvel and Faye Ponton House in Fort Worth, Texas, was constructed around 1920. At that time, the Mistletoe Heights neighborhood was emerging as a desirable area for professionals and merchants. Local architect Joseph R. Pelich designed the home in the Spanish Eclectic style. This architectural choice is evident in its clay tile roof, large arched windows and doorways, stucco walls, and wrought iron detailing. Dr. Arvel and Faye Ponton were the house's first occupants. Dr. Ponton was instrumental in establishing Fort Worth's Protestant Hospital and later opened his own clinic, also designed by Pelich. The house was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 2008. It was also listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. This site illustrates early 20th-century residential architecture in Fort Worth and highlights the contributions of its original residents to the community.
