Hotel Texas (Boundary Increase)
historic place
The Hotel Texas, a historic place in Fort Worth, was constructed from 1920 to 1921. Designed by Sanguinet & Staats and Mauran, Russell, & Crowell, it quickly became a premier luxury destination. A historical marker for the Hotel Texas was erected in 1982. In November 1963, President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy stayed here. On the morning of November 22, President Kennedy delivered his last public address in the Crystal Ballroom, hours before his assassination. The Hotel Texas was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 2014, its historical boundary was increased to include a 1970 annex. This thirteen-story annex was vital to Fort Worth's convention center development. The Hotel Texas reflects important aspects of Fort Worth's history and a pivotal national event.
