Hotel Texas, Fort Worth
historic place
The Hotel Texas, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, was completed in 1921. Designed by architects Sanguinet and Staats and Mauran, Russell, and Crowell, it became a premier local hotel. In November 1963, President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy stayed here. President Kennedy delivered his last public address in the hotel's Crystal Ballroom on November 22, 1963, hours before his assassination. The Hotel Texas was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1982. Now the Hilton Fort Worth, this site is historically significant for its architecture and its place in a national event.
