Miller Manufacturing Company Building
historic place
The Miller Manufacturing Company Building, located at 311 Bryan Avenue in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, was constructed in 1911. This two-story, rectangular structure is an early example of a reinforced concrete factory. Its facade is clad with concrete tiles, and it features narrow double-hung windows. The Miller Manufacturing Company, established in 1903, utilized this building to produce work clothing, including overalls. The building reflects the early twentieth-century emergence of Fort Worth's garment industry. In 1922, employees at the factory engaged in a strike, leading to the company's relocation from the city. Following Miller Manufacturing's departure, the building served as a paper company and later housed workshops for the Texas Division of the U.S. Transient Bureau during the Depression. Since 1937, it has accommodated various industrial users. The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in industry, social history, and architecture. Today, it has been rehabilitated into loft apartments, known as the Miller Lofts. This site provides a direct connection to Fort Worth's industrial and labor history.
