Sanguinet, Marshall R., House
historic place
The Marshall R. Sanguinet House is a historic place in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. This Shingle Style residence, located at 4729 Collinwood Avenue, was built around 1894. It was designed by prominent Fort Worth architect Marshall R. Sanguinet as his personal home. Sanguinet, born in 1859, first built a house on this site in 1890. After a fire damaged that original residence in 1893, he rebuilt it in 1894. Additions, including a dining room and porte-cochere, were made in 1906. Marshall R. Sanguinet was a partner in the influential statewide architecture firm of Sanguinet and Staats. His firm designed over 1,800 buildings across Texas, including many multi-story structures in Fort Worth. He resided in the house until his death in 1936. The house received a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark designation in 1981. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. This site is significant for its architecture and its connection to a leading Texas architect.
