historic place
The St. Patrick Cathedral Complex in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, traces its history to the city's first Catholic parish, established in 1876. Construction of the present St. Patrick Church, a Gothic Revival structure designed by James J. Kane, began in 1888 and was dedicated on July 10, 1892. It became a co-Cathedral in 1953, then the Cathedral for the new Diocese of Fort Worth in 1969. Designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1962 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, this complex is a significant historic place in Fort Worth.
