historic place

The M. A. Benton House, located in Fort Worth, Texas, is a historic place. This Victorian-style house was built in 1898. Meredith A. Benton, a businessman, and his wife, Ella Belle, owned the house. Mr. Benton's father, a builder, erected the home for them. The house is a Victorian gingerbread cottage, featuring a central hall, six rooms, and tiled fireplaces. Originally, the property included a barn and a two-room servants' house. The servants' quarters were later redesigned into a garage in 1937. Ella Belle Benton was active in civic work, helping to establish rose beds that are now part of the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. The Benton family resided in the house until 1942. In 1971, the M. A. Benton House was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. It was also listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. This house stands as an example of late 19th-century residential architecture in Fort Worth.
