The Sinclair Building, Fort Worth, Texas

historic place

The Sinclair Building in Fort Worth, Texas, is a historic place located in Tarrant County. Oilman Richard Otto Dulaney commissioned its construction in 1929. Designed by architect Wiley G. Clarkson, this sixteen-story Zigzag Moderne skyscraper opened in 1930. Originally known as the Dulaney Building, it was renamed after the Sinclair Oil Company leased much of its space. The building showcases Art Deco style with zig-zag motifs and Mayan accents. In 1992, it was designated historically significant by the National Register of Historic Places. A Texas Historical Marker, erected in 1993, notes Dulaney's role and the building's connection to the Sinclair Oil Company, which moved its headquarters here in 1932. The marker describes it as a high-rise Art Deco building from the city's oil and gas-inspired golden era. Today, the Sinclair Building operates as a luxury hotel in downtown Fort Worth.
