Wharton-Scott House
historic place
The Wharton-Scott House, a historic place in Fort Worth, Texas, was built between 1903 and 1904. Architects Sanguinet and Staats designed the mansion for Electra Waggoner and Albert Buckman Wharton. In 1911, cattle baron Winfield Scott purchased the house. From 1940 to 1968, it served as a boarding house for the Girls Service League. After a period of vacancy, a preservation group acquired the property in 1976 for restoration. The house received significant historical recognition. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It also became a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1977 and Fort Worth's first Historic and Cultural Landmark in 1976. This site is historically important for its architecture and its association with prominent Fort Worth families.
