Pecan Creek School
historic place
Pecan Creek School is a historic site in Gillespie County, Texas. The first school in this area began in 1899, operating from the Bernhard Friedrich house. In 1916, the community constructed the current school building at 3410 Pecan Creek Road. Local patrons donated the land, materials, and labor for its construction. Originally a one-room schoolhouse, it later received additions like a stage and dance floor. Pecan Creek School consolidated with the Fredericksburg Independent School District in 1955. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 10, 2005. Today, the Friends of Gillespie County Country Schools have restored the building. It now serves as a community center, reflecting its historical importance to local education.
