Droemer Brickyard Site

The Droemer Brickyard Site is a historic place located one mile southwest of Giddings, in Lee County, Texas. This brickyard began operations in 1870. The site retains the remains of its original rectangular-updraft kiln, dating from the yard's establishment. Visitors can also observe the original clay pit and the clay storage and molding building. A distinct red-orange, round down-draft kiln was utilized at the brickyard between 1924 and its eventual closing. The Droemer Brickyard Site provides insight into early industrial activity in Lee County.
