Clanton, Moses A., House
historic place
The Moses A. Clanton House is a historic place in Houston, Texas, located in Harris County. This one-story frame dwelling was constructed around the turn of the 20th century. It was built for Moses A. Clanton, an air brake operator for the Houston and Central railroad. The house features a modified L-plan and rests on a pier and beam foundation. It has a hipped roof with two intersecting gables and wood two-over-two windows. A four-bay porch extends from the ell on the east elevation, wrapping around the southeast corner. The porch roof is supported by turned-wood posts and has square-wood balusters. Its design reflects Queen Anne influence on a working man's cottage. The Moses A. Clanton House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 4, 1990. This site provides an example of early 20th-century residential architecture in Houston.
