Clare, J. H., House
historic place
The J. H. Clare House, a historic place in Houston, Texas, was built in 1904 by J. H. Clare. This one-story, wood-frame house cost $1250 to construct. It exemplifies a transitional Queen Anne-style cottage, with decorative gable features and a hipped roof. In 1907, J. H. Clare sold the property to Englebert J. Schmitz. The J. H. Clare House was individually listed in the National Register of Historic Places on January 15, 1988. Its architectural significance and intact condition highlight early 20th-century craftsmanship in Houston Heights.
