Cohn, Arthur B., House
historic place
The Arthur B. Cohn House in Houston, Texas, is a historic place built in 1905. This Queen Anne style residence was home to Arthur Benjamin Cohn, from Little Rock, Arkansas. Cohn, the personal accountant for William Marsh Rice, helped establish Rice Institute in 1912. He lived in the house until 1909. Originally on Rusk Avenue, it was part of Quality Hill, an early upscale Houston neighborhood. Due to urban development, the house has been moved multiple times, including a 2010 relocation near Minute Maid Park. Designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1985, the Arthur B. Cohn House is a rare surviving example of early 20th-century residential architecture in downtown Houston.
