DePelchin Faith Home
historic place
DePelchin Faith Home, in Houston, Texas, Harris County, is a historic place. It was founded in 1893 in memory of Kezia Payne DePelchin, a social worker, teacher, and nurse active in Houston during the late 1800s. The orphanage moved to its building at 2700 Albany Street upon completion in 1913. This Renaissance Revival structure, designed by Mauran and Russell, features an open arcade and an entryway with Doric pilasters. The home remained here until 1938. A historical marker, erected in 1984 by the Texas Historical Commission, commemorates this site. DePelchin Faith Home marks a significant chapter in Houston's social history.
