Dr. Penn B. and Annie A. Thornton House
historic place
Welcome to the Dr. Penn B. and Annie A. Thornton House, a historic place in Houston, Texas. This house, located at 327 West 16th Street in the Houston Heights neighborhood, was erected in 1905. It was built for Dr. Penn B. Thornton, a local doctor and businessman, who lived from 1866 to 1927. His wife, Annie A. Thornton, from 1872 to 1947, was active in Heights social and civic organizations. The house exemplifies the Colonial Revival style, with its asymmetrical front porch and classical columns. It represents the housing of early 20th-century Houston Heights. Penn B. Thornton, Jr., and other family members continued to live here until 1978. This structure is recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, preserving a part of Houston's residential history.
