Hermann Park Municipal Golf Clubhouse

historic place

The Hermann Park Municipal Golf Clubhouse in Houston, Harris County, is a historic place. The golf course opened in July 1923, having been constructed in 1922. The Spanish-style clubhouse, designed by Alfred E. Nutter in 1924, was built in 1932, with some records indicating 1933. This was the course's second clubhouse. The Hermann Park Golf Course was among the first integrated public golf courses in the United States, achieving desegregation in June 1954. The clubhouse served golfers until 1999. After renovations completed in late 2020, the building was renamed Lott Hall and now functions as an event venue. Its historical significance stems from its architecture and its role in public golf desegregation.
