House at 1435 Heights Boulevard
historic place
The house at 1435 Heights Boulevard in Houston, Texas, was constructed in 1903. This two-story frame dwelling exhibits a vernacular style with Queen Anne influence. It stands as a well-preserved example of the upper-middle-class homes that once defined Heights Boulevard. The developer, Omaha and South Texas Land Company, controlled houses along the boulevard with deed restrictions starting in 1893. This residence and its neighbor at 1437 Heights Boulevard were built for Reverend Benjamin A. Rogers as rental properties, sharing the same design. They are known locally as 'the twins.' The house at 1435 Heights Boulevard is a contributing Queen Anne residence within the Houston Heights Historic District East. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 15, 1988. This site is significant for representing an early developmental stage of the neighborhood.
