Isbell House, Houston, Texas
historic place
The Isbell House, located at 639 Heights Boulevard in Houston, Texas, is a historic place. This two-story eclectic frame house was built in 1907. Its design shows a clear bungalow influence. The house served as the home of Robert Isbell, who was the fourth mayor of the Heights. Isbell also played a role as an organizer of the South Texas Lumberman's Association and an officer for the Trinity Valley Cotton Oil and Fertilizer Company. A large, finished room on the second floor was originally used for public meetings. The Isbell House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1983. This site is significant for its architectural character and its association with a prominent local figure in early 20th-century Houston.
