Minella, Angelo and Lillian, House
historic place
The Angelo and Lillian Minella House, a historic place in Houston, Harris County, was built in 1950. Architect Allen R. Williams, Jr. designed this residence for Angelo Minella, a plumber and business owner, and his wife Lillian. The Minellas, originally from the Boston area, established a wholesale plumbing supply company in Houston. Their house is an example of Williams's "Century Built Homes," known for its all-masonry construction using hollow lightweight concrete tiles. This experimental building system contributed to mid-20th century residential architecture. The Minella House is a significant architect-designed middle-class ranch-style house within the Simms Woods subdivision. It is a City of Houston Protected Landmark, a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The house exemplifies post-war architectural innovation in Houston.
