National Biscuit Company Building

historic place

The National Biscuit Company Building, located at 15 North Chenevert in Houston, Texas, was constructed in 1910. Designed by Nabisco's in-house architect, Albert G. Zimmerman, it served as a production facility for the company. National Biscuit Company operated from this location until 1949. Following Nabisco's departure, Purse & Co., a wholesale furniture distributor, occupied the building. In the 2000s, the structure underwent redevelopment and was converted into loft-style apartments, now known as City View Lofts. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on February 20, 1998. It was also designated a City of Houston Landmark in 1998. This historic place is significant for its role in industry and its architectural design, which is in the Chicago style. The National Biscuit Company Building stands as a notable example of early 20th-century industrial architecture in Houston.
