Neuhaus, Hugo V., Jr. House
historic place
The Hugo V. Neuhaus, Jr. House in Houston, Texas, is a historic place. Built in 1950, it exemplifies the International style of architecture. Houston architect Hugo Victor Neuhaus, Jr., who lived from 1915 to 1987, designed this home for himself. His design reflects influences from his Harvard studies and the work of Mies van der Rohe. The house features planes of solid brick and glass walls. Large windows integrate indoor rooms with outdoor living areas, including a plunge pool and terraces. Landscape architect C.C. "Pat" Fleming collaborated on the outdoor design. A historical marker was erected in 2005. This site showcases an important example of modern architecture in Houston.
