Williams-Brueder House
historic place
The Williams-Brueder House is a historic place located at 245 West 18th Street in Houston, Harris County, Texas. This two-story frame house was constructed around 1905. It features Colonial Revival architectural influences, evident in its design. The house includes a hipped roof with a central front gable and an attached first-floor porch with unusual battered and paneled square columns. Its front door has oval glass, a transom, and sidelights with stained-glass panes. Thomas M. Cowen, a local craftsman, is believed to have built the residence, possibly for his own use. The Williams-Brueder House was recognized for its architectural significance and was individually listed in the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1983. The house exemplifies distinctive characteristics of its period and construction methods, making it a notable example of early 20th-century architecture in the Houston Heights area.
