Wisnoski House
historic place
The Wisnoski House, a historic place in Houston, Texas, was constructed around 1900. This one-story frame cottage, found in the Houston Heights neighborhood, features Queen Anne architectural influences, including a combination roof with a projecting gable and a shingled gable end. The house was the residence of Frank Wisnoski, known as the first operator of the local Heights streetcar company. This streetcar service was vital for the area's early development, serving as the primary transportation for residents and significantly contributing to the suburb's growth. The Wisnoski House was recognized for its historical importance by being individually listed in the National Register of Historic Places on May 14, 1984. It represents the residential building styles of early Houston Heights and highlights the role of public transit in shaping the city's expansion.
