Wray, Andrew Jackson and Margaret Cullinan, House
historic place
The Wray, Andrew Jackson and Margaret Cullinan, House is a historic place in Houston, Harris County, Texas. Joseph S. Cullinan commissioned this residence in 1938 for his daughter, Margaret Cullinan, and her husband, Andrew Jackson Wray. Designed by architects John F. Staub and P.H. Fredericks, the house exhibits a Late 19th and 20th Century Revivals architectural style, specifically Regency lines. It is significant as the only house in the Shadyside neighborhood solely designed by John F. Staub. Andrew Jackson Wray lived from 1900 to 1981, and Margaret Anna Cullinan from 1898 to 1985. Former Governor Mark White and Linda Gale White later resided here, restoring the home in 1986. The Wray House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 19, 1993, for its architectural importance to Houston.
