Cox Springs School

In Jonestown, Travis County, Texas, a historical marker commemorates the Cox Springs School. This school served the community from 1908 to 1960. The school building dates back to 1928. The original school was located near Cox Hollow Springs for freshwater. In 1940, the building was moved from Cox Springs near Sylvester Ford. It provided education for the children of local ranchers and farmers. In 1960, the students transferred to the Lago Vista School. The North Shore Heritage and Cultural Society erected this historical marker. The Cox Springs School represents a significant period of rural education in Travis County.
