Kyle City Hall
historic place
In Kyle, Texas, Hays County, stands the historic Kyle City Hall at 109 Burleson Road. Built in 1912, this Mission/Spanish Revival style building was designed by R.L. Thomas and constructed by Fred and Tom Millhollon. Its construction marked a significant achievement for the small rural town, reflecting optimism for early 20th-century growth, supported by a booming cotton economy. The building served as a central venue for government, civic, and social events. It also functioned as the high school auditorium until 1937. In 1940, the local Baptist church congregation used the City Hall for services after their church burned. The building received National Register of Historic Places listing in 2002 and Texas State Antiquities Landmark designation in 2006. It ceased serving as City Hall in 2007. Today, it is the Krug Activity Center, named for local public servant John P. Krug, and hosts the Kyle Area Senior Zone and community events. This structure highlights Kyle's early ambitions and its evolving community role.
