Tubbs--Carlisle House

historic place

The Tubbs--Carlisle House, at 602 Fulton Avenue in Lubbock, Texas, is a historic place. Built in the Queen Anne style, construction finished in 1908. Isham and Texana Tubbs, with Lizzie Spikes Carlisle and Gus Carlisle, built this two-family home. Isham Tubbs sourced timber from Kaufman County, transporting it by rail and wagon. The house design came from a magazine or catalog. It is Lubbock's only intact Queen Anne residence on its original site. The Tubbs--Carlisle House was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1990, and became a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 2002. This structure reflects early 20th century architecture and pioneer life in Lubbock.
