The M.L. Edwards & Co. Building is a historic place in Mount Vernon, Franklin County. This two-story brick commercial building was completed in 1916. Designed by Harry Smith, it housed the M.L. Edwards & Co. business, founded in 1900. For decades, it was a prominent structure on the town square. The store provided household goods, farm implements, and funeral services to the rural community until 1964. The Edwards family owned the business in this building until 2016. In 2018, the M.L. Edwards & Co. Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This building's history highlights its significant role in Mount Vernon's local commerce.
