Alamo Methodist Church
historic place
The Alamo Methodist Church is a historic place in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. Located at 1150 South Alamo Street, construction of this building began in 1912 and it was dedicated in 1913. The architect, Beverly Spillman, designed the structure in the Mission or Spanish Revival style. It originally served the Methodist Episcopal Church, which was its primary occupant until the late 1960s. On June 11, 1979, the Alamo Methodist Church building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. After its time as a church, the structure was repurposed. By 1976, it became known as the Alamo Street Theater. Later, it housed various restaurants and venues, including a gourmet hot dog stand and a music venue. This site offers a view into early 20th-century church architecture and the changing roles of historic buildings in San Antonio.
