Barnes--Laird House
historic place
The Barnes--Laird House, located at 103 West Ashby Place in San Antonio, Bexar County, is a historic place. This Classical Revival dwelling was constructed for Benjamin G. Barnes and his wife, Ermin, who resided here for about four years before selling it in 1913. This places its construction around 1909. Later, ranching heiress Hester Palmer Schreiner Harrison owned the property. In 1951, Joseph and Grace Heninger Laird became owners, lending their name to the house. The Barnes--Laird House is recognized for its architectural significance as a substantial early 20th-century Classical Revival residence. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 28, 1988. This site contributes to the historical character of San Antonio's Monte Vista neighborhood.
