Builders Exchange Building

historic place

The Builders Exchange Building, at 152 East Pecan Street in downtown San Antonio, Texas, was completed in 1925. Architects George Willis and Emmet Jackson designed the ten-story structure. It was originally constructed for the San Antonio Builder's Exchange. Later, the building served as the headquarters for the local chapter of the Association of General Contractors. It was also occupied by the American Hospital and Life Insurance Company. In the early 1990s, the building underwent a renovation, converting it into apartments. Today, it functions as a residential building. The Builders Exchange Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. This designation recognizes its place within San Antonio's downtown and River Walk Historic District. The building represents a historical example of early 20th-century commercial architecture in the city.
