Woodward, David J. and May Bock, House
historic place
The David J. and May Bock Woodward House, located in San Antonio, Texas, is a historic place in Bexar County. This Classical Revival style house was built between 1904 and 1905. Renowned architect Atlee B. Ayres designed the residence for businessman and contractor David J. Woodward and his wife, May Bock Woodward. May Bock Woodward was instrumental in the design process, collaborating closely with Ayres. David Woodward also served as the builder. Following David Woodward's death, May sold the house in 1926 to the Woman's Club of San Antonio. The house has since served as the clubhouse for this organization. It was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1994 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. A historical marker for the house was erected in 1995. This building reflects early 20th-century architecture and the social history of San Antonio.
