Campbell Building-Union Bus Station

historic place

The Campbell Building-Union Bus Station, a historic place in Tyler, Smith County, was constructed in 1932. Local businessman John L. Campbell developed the building to accommodate street-level retail tenants and second-level apartments. Early occupants included Eisen's French Market and the Parisian Beauty Salon. In 1946, the building was purchased and converted into the Dixie-Sunshine-Trailways bus station, which later became a Greyhound Bus Lines terminal. This structure is notable for its Art Deco and Art Moderne architectural styles, being one of the few remaining examples in Smith County. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 19, 2023. Today, the Campbell Building-Union Bus Station represents a significant chapter in Tyler's commercial and transportation history.
