Glass, D.R., Library at Texas College
historic place
The D.R. Glass Library, a historic building on the Texas College campus in Tyler, Texas, was constructed in 1948. This academic library was designed by McKissack & McKissack, one of the oldest Black-founded and owned architecture firms. It is named for Dominion Robert Glass, who served as the eighth president of Texas College from 1931 to 1961. The library is located in Smith County and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 7, 2007. As part of Texas College, a historically Black institution, the D.R. Glass Library represents a significant site in the history of education and Black heritage in East Texas.
