The McCulloch House, located in McLennan County, is a historic place in Waco, Texas. Waco physician Josiah H. Caldwell constructed a two-room house with a detached kitchen on this site around 1866. In 1871, Champe Carter McCulloch purchased the property. He then incorporated the existing structures and built the present two-story Greek Revival residence. Champe Carter McCulloch was a local merchant and served as mayor of Waco from 1890 to 1894. He and his wife Emma raised ten children in the house. Members of the McCulloch family continued to live in the house until 1971. The McCulloch House was entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. It was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1979. The historical marker for the McCulloch House was erected in 1979 by the Texas Historical Commission. This site represents a significant example of Waco's architectural and civic history.
