1926 Model Brick Home
historic place
In Seattle, Washington's King County, stands the 1926 Model Brick Home. This historic place was completed in 1926, built over twelve weeks from early February to mid-May. The Northwest Brick and Tile Association constructed it to showcase the durability, low maintenance, and affordability of brick homes. The public followed its progress through weekly Seattle Times articles and was encouraged to visit the site. On March 1, 1926, a cornerstone was laid during a dedication ceremony. After completion, the home was open for public inspections. On May 16, 1926, an opening day ceremony drew over 5,000 visitors on its first Sunday. This Tudor Revival style home, located in Seattle's Montlake area, represents a notable effort to promote brick construction and public engagement in home design during the 1920s.
