The Arreguin, Alfredo and Susan Lytle House and Studio, located in Seattle, King County, Washington, is recognized as a Historic Place. This property was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2022. It served as the home and studio of Mexican American painter Alfredo Arreguin and his wife, artist Susan Lytle. Alfredo Arreguin, born in Morelia, Mexico, in 1935, immigrated to Seattle in 1956. He earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Washington. Arreguin was known for his contributions to the Pattern and Decoration movement, prominent from the mid-1970s through the 1980s. His colorful oil paintings drew inspiration from Mexican folk culture, jungle flora and fauna, and the Pacific Northwest landscape. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian's National Museum of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery. His wife, Susan Lytle, is also a painter, known for her floral works. The couple purchased this Seattle property in 1987. The basement of their Minimal Traditional style home functioned as a shared studio for both artists until Arreguin's death in 2023. This site is historically significant for its association with these two artists and their artistic contributions.
