De La Mar Apartments

historic place

The De La Mar Apartments, located in Seattle's King County, opened in 1909. Architect Daniel Huntington designed the building. It originally served as a private hotel for guests attending the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition. The De La Mar Apartments were designated a historic place in 1977. On August 18, 1980, the property was entered into the National Register of Historic Places. A historical marker, erected in 1980, notes its exceptional value in illustrating American history and culture. Today, the De La Mar Apartments continue as residences, many retaining original 1909 features. This site is significant for its early 20th-century architecture and its connection to a major Seattle event.
