Fir Lodge
historic place
Fir Lodge, a historic place in Seattle's Alki neighborhood, was constructed between 1903 and 1904. This log building, an example of Bungalow/Craftsman architecture, was initially the residence of soap maker William J. Bernard and his family. In 1907, the Seattle Auto and Driving Club purchased Fir Lodge for use as a clubhouse. It later served various functions before becoming the Alki Homestead restaurant in 1950, a popular local establishment. The City of Seattle designated Fir Lodge a landmark in 1995. After a damaging fire in 2009, the lodge underwent restoration and reopened in 2019 as the Il Nido Italian restaurant. Fir Lodge is significant for its early 20th-century log construction and its connection to Alki's historical development.
